Feeling good and better is something that most people want.
I appreciate the research and work Jane McGonigal has put into trying to help people with feeling better. In the hope to inspire more people I am writing this post.
The Ted Talk called “The game that can give you 10 extra years of life” Jane McGonigal
inspired me to check out the free game SuperBetter
When you land on the page of the game, the first time, it says:
Playing SuperBetter for 30 days improves mood, reduces symptoms of anxiety & depression and increases belief in the ability to successfully achieve goals.
Results from a randomized controlled study conducted by The University of Pennsylvania
The book SuperBetter is full of interesting, easy to read, information about how games in general can help when played with the intention to get better.
It also provides quests which are similar to the ones in the game SuperBetter.
Jane McGonigal has a Ph.D. and has done extensive research on the benefits of games.
You can find more (alternative reality) games Jane has created. There is a video of her talking before she recovered from the severe depression by turning her recovery into a game, which then turned into SuperBetter.
If you are interested check out Jane’s Research page.
